Huffman Architects is a full service Raleigh based architectural design firm, licensed in the State of North Carolina, that seeks to create projects that foster communities, enhance our built environment and enrich lives. We pursue design excellence through research, analysis, a thorough understanding of site and listening to our clients’ needs. Each situation presents exciting opportunities, whether it's starting from scratch or enhancing something that already exists. Prior to founding Huffman Architects in 2010, Dan Huffman was a partner at Hager Smith and Huffman Architects and Cherry Huffman Architects. Our firm was originally located in Dan’s Garage Studio, which won the AIA North Carolina Merit Award in 2013 and the AIA Triangle Design Merit Award in 2014. Dan retired on January 1, 2024 after an illustrious career in North Carolina spanning 5 decades.

Eric Sowers moved to the Triangle in 1996 to begin his career in Durham at Hoke/New Vision Architects then moved to Cherry Huffman Architects in 2001, where he and Dan worked closely together. In 2012, after working at Cherry Huffman Architects and then RATIO Architects for a total of 10 years, he joined Huffman Architects. Eric became a partner in 2014.

In 2005, Miranda Potthoff moved to Raleigh to begin her career as an intern at Cherry Huffman Architects.  She progressed to managing large projects there and later at RATIO for a total of 9 years prior to joining Huffman Architects. She became a partner in January 2017.

In 2016, we moved to our current location at 632 Pershing Road in Raleigh where we have more space to focus on great work.
