ralph e. capps teen center

The Ralph E. Capps Teen Center is the newest addition to the Boys and Girls Club of Wake County's main campus. The 16,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium, computer lab, library, game room, administrative offices, and a commercial teaching kitchen. An economical material palette of durable concrete block, a steel joist roof with exposed metal decking, and aluminium glass storefront are assembled using straightforward construction methods. Program spaces are organized with attention to natural lighting, views to the outdoors, and views through the interior space that welcome visitors. Punches of color and an upholstered "hang out zone" soften the space and make for an attractive and inviting youth center.
